Sometimes people are a little intimidated at the thought of requesting a custom handbag, tote bag or Bible cover. They don’t want to seem to picky, be too much trouble, or even fear taking the financial risk. But custom orders are relatively simple. All you need to do is contact me here or send me a convo at Etsy. You can even drop me a note on the A Happy Distraction Facebook Page . Often there is no additional charge for a custom bag. Here are some things to consider when ordering a custom item:
- Fabric Choice: Do you see a handbag style that you like, but it isn’t offered in a fabric you like? I will happily show you some fabric choices to choose from. You can see a few here on flickr . I also use Hobby Lobby and Fabric.com for fabric orders. (Occasionally, a fabric choice may result in additional fees.)
- Strap Length: I can make you a bag with a preferred strap length on both double and single handled bags. You might need a tape measure. Or you can tell me approximately where you would like the bag to fall (beneath the arm pit, at the hip, at the chest, etc.)
- Adjustable Strap: I can also add an adjustable strap on single strap bags only. There is an additional fee of $2 that will cover the costs of hardware and extra material and time. (Handbags & Totes Only)
- Closure Type: Want a zipper instead of a magnetic snap? I can do that for an additional fee of $2 to cover the extra time and materials needed. (Handbags & Totes Only)
- Deposit: Because of the uniqueness of your custom request I do request at least 50% of the cost up front.
- Time: I need about a week to produce a custom item. Often I can complete an order in much less time depending on fabric availability and volume of orders.
