Yes, I know. I’m not as cool as I think I am right this second. Don’t worry that will wear off. Eventually. But I’ve wanted to do this for a while now and I had everything I needed and never did anything with it until today. Today, by the way, is Black Friday and I am NOT shopping. Why? Because I don’t like traffic. I don’t like crowds. I don’t like chaos. Sorry, that’ just who I am! So I’m staying at home eating leftover pumpkin pie and making youtube videos. Oh the places you’ll go! (Was I just channeling Dr. Suess there?)

Is it just me or does Christmas arrive a little earlier every year. Doing Thanksgiving shopping this year, I was bombarded with the tinny Christmas music in the lobby of the store along with a HUGE display of Christmas gifts. Seriously, people, just let me enjoy my Thanksgiving first. I came across this cartoon a week or two ago and it pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.

That also reminds me of this latest brouhaha on how many of these stores are opening earlier than ever for Black Friday. It seems employees are tired of their family time being cut short because they have to go to bed early to be ready for those midnight openings. I do not envy these workers a bit. Who wants to work in an environment like that. You could blame the stores, sure, and they are partly to blame. But some of us need to take a good hard look at ourselves and know that the marketers are simply meeting a customer demand. I really admire stores that are either closed Black Friday or opening at a realistic hour so that their employees can enjoy time with their families. I think I heard that Sears is opening at 4 a.m. Sure that’s still early, but it still leaves plenty of time for workers to enjoy Thanksgiving before heading to bed. If you do decide to go out at midnight BlackĀ  Friday please remember to be polite and friendly to the staff and give them a sincere smile and thank you for doing a job that none of us would want to do.

Oh and in case you are wondering, I am not a Black Friday shopper. I might be brought out to shop if there is a very specific thing I’m looking for, but generally I hang out at home, watch football, and start planning for Christmas. I’ll probably even log on and shop online a little, or do some price comparison. But otherwise I’m staying in my fuzzy slippers.

It’s raining. Ugh! Usually I like a little rain. It makes me feel all calm and at peace. Today, it’s blahhhhhh! I feel that way too and I have way much to do. The house is a DISASTER and I have a boatload of laundry to do, not to mention a couple of projects that are screaming to be finished. My little dog needs a bath, and there homework projects to be finished, dishes to be done and phone calls to be made. So somewhere, somehow I have to find some motivation to get going. I’ve given myself ’til 9 to get moving and after that no more excuses.

Once I get cleaned up, I’m going to tackle a couple more portfolio projects I’ve got going. But first I want to share my latest Etsy Treasury. I love cool vintage stuff, and I love cool sewing stuff. Hence Groovy Vintage Sewing Stuff. My fav is that cool old iron. My mom used to have one of those and still remember it. Iwas cool chrome-like and shiny and had this pretty blue button for the steam I think. I’m also loving that awesome dress form. I wish I had more room in my house. I’d have a dedicated sewing and craft room where I could decorate. Alas, that is just not to be. I’ll just have to stick with blogging and treasure-ing.
